The library appreciates all of the readers who completed their hourly reading goals this year to earn tickets for summer fun at amusement parks. We made summer sunglasses, chalked the walk in front of the school, and treated ourselves to a few snacks. We hope the summer warm up carries them to their next reading goals and the public library’s summer reading programs.
This year for the culminating event for Poetry Month we celebrated Poem in Your Pocket Day. Students carried poems of all kinds with them as they went through their school day and shared them with special readers who were “all ears”. Each poem read earned them a ticket for a drawing for poetic prizes like journals, books, and art supplies. After a month of poetry reading and writing our Poetry Patrol were delighted to hear all kinds of poems. 
We’ve visited many poets and forms of poetry all month in anticipation of Poem in your Pocket Day at school! We’ve created, read, performed, and we are ready! Click here to see our poem prep commercial. We can’t wait.
